My name is Chris and I have been a practising counsellor and social worker in Essex for the past 20 years. I have a private practice as a counsellor working with adults, young people and children in Brentwood, Essex.
I am an Integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and I am an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred). Being an accredited member means that I have been assessed as meeting the highest standards of practice for a counsellor/psychotherapist.
I am also registered with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) as a registered social worker (RSW).
Being an Integrative counsellor simply means that when working with clients I draw upon a range of approaches and theories that will suit your needs. All of the approaches that I draw upon are 'relational' - they are based upon my belief that through relationship with others we can work toward healing our emotional wounds and developing as an individual.
After gaining my Masters in 1999 I worked as a therapeutic social worker for numerous years working with adults, children and young people. I gained a great variety of experience working with a range of client groups and client difficulties and had a great interest in the impact that a clients' social situation could have on their emotional wellbeing.
I have spent a number of years working therapeutically within the field of cancer and palliative care and have worked with individuals and groups experiencing terminal illness and end of life, bereavement and loss issues and loss of identity and purpose.
In my work as a counsellor I receive regular supervision from a BACP Senior accredited counsellor. This means that my counselling practice is regularly monitored and scrutinised.
